March 15, 2024, Gennady Sukhikh, Director of the Kulakov National Medical Research center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Elizaveta Khamatkhanova, Head of the Department of Educational Simulation Technologies in Medicine, and Ekaterina Yarotskaya, Head of International Cooperation Department, took part in the 21st meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

The participants of the meeting were welcomed by the Chairmen of the national parts of the Russian-Cuban Commission: Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Cuban Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.

Within the framework of the meeting, reports on various areas of economic and humanitarian co-operation with the Republic of Cuba were presented. The achievements of the working group on cooperation in the field of health care were presented by the co-chairs of the group, Ms. Tania Margarita Cruz Hernandez, First Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Cuba, and Oleg Salagai, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.

The health authorities noted the successful development of cooperation between the countries and paid special attention to collaboration in the field of maternal and child health care. In particular, Ms. Hernández expressed deep gratitude to the Kulakov National Medical Research center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Ministry of Health of Russia for training Cuban specialists in the latest technologies aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality through on-site simulation-training courses.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was signed between the Center and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cuba to develop of cooperation in joint scientific, medical and educational projects.
