The Department was established in 1987, and since that time the Head of the Department is Vera Prilepskaya. Annually, more than 80,000 patients with various obstetric and gynecologic conditions get consultations in the Department. The team of consultants includes obstetricians-gynecologists, who have been trained in the leading clinics in Russia and abroad, as well as allied health professionals: andrologist, dentist, therapist, endocrinologist, mammologist, psychologist, sexologist, urogynecologist, gynecologist-oncologist, radiologist, geneticist, ophthalmologist, hematologist, otolaryngologist, etc.)

FOCUS AREA

Clinical and research activity is focused on cervical pathology and women’s reproductive health.

The Center for treatment of cervical pathology and sexually transmitted infections based in the Department accept the patients with severe cervical, vulvar and vaginal pathology, including those with precancerous conditions.

Reproductive health care includes individual selection of methods of contraception especially in women of high risk with diabetes mellitus, liver disease, connective tissue dysplasia, obesity), the use of contraception  after delivery, abortion, and emergency contraception. Besides, the doctors of the Department provide preparation for pregnancy, treatment of pelvic inflammatory diseases, solution of menopause problems, diagnosis and treatment of uterine fibroids and endometriosis, treatment of menstrual disorder, including premenstrual syndrome, management of various types of infertility and  high-risk pregnancy. 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF SPECIALISTS

The specialist from different regions of Russia and CIS countries get trained in the Department. The Department organizes and holds annual seminars and international congresses for the clinicians, as well as the courses on colposcopy, contraception, STIs, abortion, obesity, phytotherapy and breast pathology.
