Meeting of WHO Collaborating Centers in the Russian Federation

On April 15, 2026, a meeting of WHO Collaborating Centers in the Russian Federation was held in Moscow. The meeting was chaired and coordinated by Oleg Salagai (Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation), Eduard Salakhov (Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation), and Batyr Berdyklychev (WHO Representative in the Russian Federation).

Representatives from all twenty-three WHO Collaborating Centers in the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rospotrebnadzor, and the Russian Academy of Sciences, participated in the meeting, both in person and online. WHO Collaborating Centre for Research in Reproduction in the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation was represented by Ekaterina Yarotskaya, Head of the Department of International Cooperation.

Dr. Hans Kluge (WHO Regional Director for Europe) opened the meeting and thanked the participants for their fruitful cooperation with WHO and outlining the key agenda points. David Allen (Director of the Administration and Finance, WHO/Europe) introduced the updated organizational structure of WHO/Europe. The meeting outlined the priorities of the 2nd WHO European Programme of Work and expectations for support from the Collaborating Centres in their specialized fields.

The meeting participants actively engaged in the discussion, shared their experience regarding the work of the Collaborating Centres, and concluded by emphasizing the importance of creating a cross-disciplinary network among the Centres in the Russian Federation to address pressing issues such as standardization of terminology, the share of experience, and participation in joint projects.
