The Congress opened by the greetings of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko. He noted that every topic at the Congress, whether it's gynecologic oncology or benign hyperplastic processes, was considered from the perspective of preserving and restoring reproductive function and health.
The Minister emphasized that President Vladimir Putin, in his Address to the Federal Assembly, proposed to launch a new comprehensive program for maternal health, child and adolescent health, including preservation of reproductive health. The priorities of the program are: expansion of women's consultation clinics; modernization of perinatal centers and children's hospitals.
The participants of the Congress were also welcomed by the Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare Alla Samoylova, and the Director of Department of Child Healthcare, Maternity Service and Social Health of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Elena Sheshko.
The scientific program of the Congress was opened by the Director of the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Academician of RAS Gennady Sukhikh and Deputy Director of the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of RAS Leila Adamyan.

Every day the Congress was opened with an International Endoscopy Course (A. Wattiez, O. Shawki, R. Tozzi, М. Malzoni, A. Romeo, P. Koninckx) including special sessions on technical innovations, nuances of surgical energies application, pronciples of reconstructive surgery, and suturing techniques.
A total of 15 surgical procedures were performed by Russian and foreign experts during the Congress, which were broadcasted from the operating rooms of the Center and foreign clinics, including surgeries for: infiltrative endometriosis, metroplasty for uterine scar thinning, hysterectomy for uterine fibroids, myomectomy, intrauterine septum, endometrial pathologies, intrauterine synechiae.
The Congress also included 5 plenary sessions covering new technologies in the diagnosis, surgery, and treatment of endometriosis; innovations in reproductive surgery; approaches to the management of gynecologic oncology patients; current issues in gynecology in the light of new technologies.
The key lecture was presented by Dr. A. Stepanian (Atlanta, USA). In her talk, “Transition to the era of AI: essential qualities and skills of human surgeons”, she discussed the new horizons of surgical intelligence in gynecology and the benefits of artificial intelligence in medicine, as well as highlighted the fundamental differences between human and artificial intelligence.
Traditionally the Young Scientists’ Contest was organized as a part of the Congress. The panel of experts judged the scientific research works and developments for the treatment of gynecological diseases. Among a large number of contest applications, it was decided to award prizes to 4 most promising works:
1st place was deservedly shared by: Alekseev G.E. (25 y.o., the Kuban State Medical University/Maykop State Technological University, Krasnodar), “A method for combined one-step correction of cystocele and apical prolapse in patients of reproductive age”, and Murvatova K.K. (24 y.o., I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Sechenov University), Moscow), “Photodynamic therapy in women with HSIL and LSIL. Results of a systematic review and meta-analysis.”
2nd place was awarded to Antonova A.A. (28 y.o., National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Moscow), “Peculiarities of serum autoantibody profile in women with primary ovarian insufficiency.”
3rd place – Pivazyan L.G. (y.o., National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Moscow), “Markers of iron metabolism in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis: a meta-analysis of clinical studies.”
According to official statistics, 935 participants from 23 countries, 177 cities, and 57 subjects of the Russian Federation registered for the Congress on site.
The largest number of registered participants was from Russia – 855. Experts from Austria, Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Hungary, Germany, Egypt, Israel, India, Spain, Italy, Canada, China, Moldova, UAE, USA, Turkey, France, South Ossetia, and Japan also joined the broadcast.
For the convenience of listeners who were unable to attend the Congress in person, a parallel broadcast was organised on the official website of the Congress and on YouTube, where the total number of views over the 4 days was 11,215. More than 2,500 people joined the stream via the official website (and up to 2,000 people via YouTube). Dozens of positive reviews and comments were received.
The online format of the Congress made it possible to attract a large number of the best Russian and foreign experts from leading medical organizations from all over the world, as well as more than 3.5 thousand specialists who seek professional development.
Thus, the Congress implements strategically important tasks of the state policy in the field of healthcare and is of great importance for medicine, science and education.
