DELEGATION FROM THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH OF THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF KOREA VISITS THE KULAKOV CENTER

Following the April visit of the Minister of Health of the Democratic People"s Republic of Korea to the Kulakov Center, a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Health of the North Korea was held at the Center on July 31, 2024. The delegation was led by Ri Un Chol (Director of the Department of Medication Affairs of the Ministry of Health), Choe Suk Hyon (Deputy Director of the Department of External Affairs of the Ministry of Health) and Ri Yong Min (Head of Division, Department of Treatment and Prevention, Ministry of Health).

The meeting was opened by Gennady Sukhikh (Director of the Kulakov Center, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences), who made a brief presentation about the Center. Also on behalf of the Kulakov Center the meeting was attended by Natalia Kan (Deputy Director for Science), Viktor Zubkov (Head of Neonatology and Pediatrics Institute), Dmitry Voronov (Head of Professional Education Institute), Marina Shuvalova (Deputy Director, Head of Regional Cooperation and Integration Department),  Vladimir Klimov (Head of  Medical care organization and information services), Ekaterina Yarotskaya (Head of International Cooperation Department) and Nikolai Zakharov (Head of Supply and Technical Support Department).

The meeting was dedicated to the construction of the Friendship Hospital in Wonsan, as well as staffing and equipment supply of the Hospital, including Russian medical equipment.

North-Korean colleagues visited the Imaging Department, the Federal Perinatal Center and the Neonatal Surgery Department, where they got acquainted with the organization of patient care and the peculiarities of the departments' maintenance. The delegation was very impressed by the advanced Russian-made medical equipment, which is used in the departments, as well as digital systems for monitoring the condition of patients and electronic medical records.

At the end of the meeting Academician Gennady Sukhikh assured the North-Korean colleagues of the Center's readiness to provide advice and counselling on the equipment, structure and staffing of obstetric, gynecological and neonatal departments of the newly constructed Friendship Hospital.
