On January 15, 2025, Dr. Batyr Berdyklychev, WHO representative in Russia, and Tatyana Kolpakova, Public Health Specialist of the WHO Office in Russia, visited FSBI “National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after Academician V.I. Kulakov” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
The Center was represented by Gennady Sukhikh, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Center; Tatyana Tsybizova, Ph.D., Deputy Director for Development; Marina Shuvalova, MD, Deputy Director and Head of the Department of Regional Cooperation and Integration; Tatyana Pugacheva, Head of the Center for Digital Transformation of Healthcare; Elizaveta Khamatkhanova, MD, Head of the Department of Educational Simulation Technologies in Medicine; Alexey Kholin, MD, Head of the Department of Telemedicine; Ekaterina Yarotskaya, MD, Head of the Department of International Cooperation; Maria Yurova, Ph.D., Researcher of the Scientific and Outpatient Department.
Gennady Sukhikh opened the meeting with a reminder of long-term and fruitful cooperation between WHO and the Kulakov Center, which has been the only WHO Collaborating Center in Russia in the field of human reproduction since 1972.
Ekaterina Yarotskaya than gave an overview of the structure, functions, and activities of the Center, and went on to detail about the activities of the WHO Collaborating Center.
During the visit, the WHO delegates were introduced to the work of the simulation and training center. In particular, they were shown programs based on training materials updated at the request of the WHO and used in international projects carried out in cooperation with the WHO.
The WHO representatives were very interested in the Center's experience in using such effective tools for improving the quality of medical care in the field of maternal and child health as the system of audits and supportive supervision in the regions of the Russian Federation, the VIMIS AKiNEO system (Vertically Integrated Medical Information System “Obstetrics” (AK) and “Neonatology” (NEO) of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation), and the telemedicine consultation service.
The meeting concluded with the parties agreeing to explore ways of cooperating in the field of maternal and child health care.
