January 20-23, 2026, the “XX Jubilee International Congress on Reproductive Medicine. Endometriosis. Artificial Intelligence in Gynecology” with Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy Course” was held at the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology

The Congress was officially opened by Gennady Sukhikh. Congress Co-chair Leila Adamyan introduced the foreign experts who attended the Congress in person: Prof. A. Wattiez, Prof. R. Tozzi, Prof. G. Bigatti, Prof. Sh. Puntambekar, Prof. O. Shawki, and Dr. A. D'Afiero.

The Congress was attended by Rafael Shavaliev, Director of the Department of Medical Care for Children, Maternity Care and Public Health of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, who delivered a greeting from the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.

Congress participants were also welcomed by the Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare Alla Samoylova, and Rector of the Russian University of Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Oleg Yanushevich.

Congress in Figures:

  • 6 plenary sessions covering such areas as the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis; the use of AI in reproductive medicine; achievements and prospects in the field of ART; prevention of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, reproductive losses, and reproductive health disorders in various diseases;
  • More than 130 scientific and clinical presentations, including 44 presentations from experts of the Kulakov Center, and 22 presentations from representatives of leading Russian regional scientific, educational and clinical centers.

The first day of the Congress began with the opening of the International Course on laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. The course was held daily throughout the Congress. As part of the course, 19 laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries were performed, including procedures for cervical and endometrial cancer, adenomyosis, endometriosis, metroplasty for uterine scar insufficiency, cerclage, removal of submucosal fibroids and endometrial polyp using the shaving technique, correction of the intrauterine septum, and treatment of intrauterine synechiae. These surgeries were conducted by teams of Russian and international surgeons in a live broadcast format from the operating rooms of the Kulakov Center and foreign hospitals.

 

Congress participants observed the procedures and could discuss surgical tactics with experts in real time. Surgeons, in turn, focused the audience's attention on special techniques and skills that minimize the risk of complications and improve surgical outcomes. The course also included daily practice-oriented lectures, which allowed participants to enhance their knowledge and skills in performing laparoscopic procedures, learn about new technologies for the surgical treatment of gynecological pathologies, and explore the use of surgical energies, sutures and adjuvants (such as anti-adhesion barriers and hemostatic agents), as well as endoscopic suturing. Additionally, the participants were provided with educational video materials and underwent trainings on high-tech simulators, where they could practice endoscopic surgery skills, including instrument control and coordination of movements.

 

A traditional part of the Congress was the Young Scientists’ Contest, where young scientists presented their original scientific research: five winners from universities and medical research centers in the Russian Federation were selected.

 

  1. was shared by Vera Seregina (Moscow, the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology) with the study “First experience of using a hemostatic bandage with kaolin in obstetrics and gynecology: a promising technology for improving reproductive outcomes” and Anastasia Shumeikina (Novosibirsk, E. Meshalkin National Medical Research Center) with her study “Diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early cervical cancer using an endocervical resector.”

2nd prize was shared by Kristina Kurbatova (Moscow, the Russian University of Medicine) with her study “Cellular technologies in gynecology and reproductive medicine” and Maria Alekseeva-Tulupova (Moscow, the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology) with the scientific analysis “Clinical and instrumental characteristics of adolescents with isolated adenomyosis and in concomitance with peritoneal endometriosis in the dynamics of two years of dienogest therapy.”

3rd prize went to Viktoria Vardanyan (Moscow, the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology), who presented her study, “The impact of endometrioma and its combined treatment on the success of ART programs.”

Following the scientific program, an All-Russian Meeting of Deputy Heads of Regional Executive Bodies of the Russian Federation in the Field of Healthcare and Social Relations, Responsible for Assistance to Women and Children, Head Specialists in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Reproductive Health “Improving medical care in obstetrics and gynecology” was held. The meeting was chaired by Evgenia Kotova, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation and Gennady Sukhikh, Professor, Academician of RAS, Director of the Kulakov National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology.

During the meeting Evgenia Kotova spoke on the “Implementation of national goals in obstetric care: results for 2025 and tasks for 2026”; Victoria Sakharova, Deputy Director of the Department of Child Healthcare, Maternity Service, and Social Health of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, demonstrated “New developments in the legal regulation of medical care for mothers and children”; Galina Karpova, Head of the Project Office, focused on the “Objectives of the federal project ‘Maternal and child health protection’ for 2026”; Leila Adamyan, Academician of RAS, Deputy Director of the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, Head Specialist in Gynecology of the Ministry of Health, shared her vision on “A comprehensive approach to women's reproductive health using innovative and minimally invasive technologies”; Vladimir Klimov, Head of Medical Care and Information Service of the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, Head Specialist in Obstetrics of the Ministry of Health, presented the “Analysis of maternal mortality in 2025. Medical care for critical obstetric conditions”; Natalia Dolgushina, Deputy Director of the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, Head Specialist in Reproductive Health of Women of the Ministry of Health, talked on the “Improving the effectiveness of medical care for infertility”; and Elena Uvarova, Corr.-Member of RAS, Head of the 2nd Department of Gynecology of the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology, Head Specialist in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology of the Ministry of Health, covered the topic “Protecting the reproductive health of adolescents”.
