Kulakov Center deepens strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic

On February 09, 2026 the delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic visited the Kulakov National Medical Research Center, the leading Russian medical institution for obstetrics, gynecology and perinatology. The guest side was presented by Kanybek Dosmambetov – the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic; two Deputy Ministers – Bakytbek Kadyraliev and Temirbek Erkinov, and by the Counsellor of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Russia – Gulbarchyn Baiymbetova. The Russian side included: Boris Sukhanov – the Counsellor of the International Cooperation and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Health of Russia; Gennady Sukhikh – Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Director of the Kulakov Center; Natalia Kan – Deputy Director for Science; Tatiana Tsybizova – Deputy Director for Development; Marina Shuvalova – Deputy Director-Head of the Regional Cooperation and Integration Department; Dmitry Voronov – Director of the Institute of Professional Education; Stanislav Pavlovich – Academic Secretary; Elizaveta Khamatkhanova – Head of Department of Educational Simulation Technologies in Medicine; Alexey Kholin – Head of Telemedicine Department; Andrey Verkhovtsev – Deputy Head of the Center for Digital Transformation of Healthcare; Ekaterina Yarotskaya – Head of International Cooperation Department.

Visit highlights:

  • Meeting with the Center: Professor Sukhikh told the Kyrgyz colleagues about the structure, functions and activities of the Center featuring organizational, medical, scientific and educational areas.
  • Leadership in collaboration: Boris Sukhanov emphasized that the Kulakov National Medical Research Center is developing the most active and in-depth cooperation with Kyrgyzstan among Russian medical institutions, particularly in the area of ​​advanced training for specialists and across international projects aimed at the improvement of medical care for mothers and newborns.
  • Practical experience: The guests visited the Simulation and Training Centre, where they were introduced to cutting-edge equipment for training obstetricians, gynecologists, neonatologists, and ultrasound specialists. Particular attention was paid to special training programs that simulate complex clinical situations. It was noted that the Kyrgyz Republic leads among the 56 countries in the number of participants in practice-oriented trainings as part of the long-term Russian Project "Ways to Reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality".
  • Demonstration of innovations: During the meeting, the work of the Vertically Integrated Medical Information System (VIMIS) was showcased in the areas of obstetrics, neonatology, neonatal screening, registry of critical obstetric conditions, and registry of ART.
  • High evaluation by the colleagues: Representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed high estimate for the scale of the Center's activities and the level of implementation of innovative technologies in everyday clinical practice.

 

Prospectives for cooperation: The parties held a detailed discussion on postgraduate education and on the improvement of the quality of medical care. The Russian side proposed the following priority areas for cooperation:

  • Assistance in training medical specialists;
  • Transfer of experience in audits and supportive supervision, shared use of telemedicine consultations, and the use of vertically integrated medical information systems.

 

Representatives of the Kyrgyz healthcare system noted the high relevance of the proposals presented for solving the existing objective difficulties in monitoring the quality of care in hard-to-reach areas of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the need to develop the level of specialists’ training in specific areas.

Following the visit, the parties agreed on exchanging experiences and developing new forms of long-term cooperation aimed at strengthening maternal and child health in both countries.
