FOCUS AREA

The Institute of Translational Medicine is focused on the development of various test systems based on small ncRNAs expression profile. One of our test systems was developed for the diagnosis of pre-eclampsia, placenta ingrowth, gestational diabetes in the Ist  trimester of pregnancy using extracellular small ncRNAs expression profile. We also created a test system for the evaluation of fetal implantation potential at morula and blastocyst stage using small ncRNAs expression profile in the culture media. Besides, the Institute offers test systems that work under ART program and help to evaluate endometrium receptiveness using small ncRNAs expression profile in uterine cavity aspirate. Finally, our specialists managed to develop a test system for the evaluation of couple fertility using small ncRNAs expression profile in the follicular fluid and semen plasma.

Apart from this, we use these test systems in order to assess the effectiveness of FETO therapy by means of small ncRNAs expression profile in amniotic fluid for fetal congenital diaphragmatic hernia of various degrees of severity. The assessment of DIE surgical and non-surgical treatment using small ncRNAs expression profile in the peripheral blood plasma is also among our focus areas. Within these goals our staff is conducting a study on the search for RNA-markers (small ncRNA) of a serosal ovarian cancer of various histological types.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The Institute staff conducts the assessment of the predictive value of small ncRNA expression level in newborns blood plasma to evaluate the risk of neonatal complications depending on: COVID-19 severity in pregnant women and various gestational pathologies including pre-eclampsia, intrauterine fetal growth retardation, and placenta ingrowth. Moreover we assess the predictive value of small ncRNAs expression level in blood plasma of the newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy in terms of controlled therapeutic hypothermia. As a part of predictive value assessment our specialists evaluate the effectiveness of labor induction based on the study of signaling molecules expression patterns (tissue and exosomal miRNA) that regulate the mechanism of labor onset.
