FOCUS AREA
The Applied Transcriptomics Laboratory develops different diagnostic test systems to predict the risk of pre-eclampsia, placenta ingrowth and gestational diabetes in the 1st trimester. These test systems also help to analyze endometrium receptiveness and to assess couple fertility. The Laboratory offers various instruments for the assessment of pulmonary therapy effectiveness for congenital diaphragmatic hernia; the search for RNA-markers of serosal ovarian cancer of various histological types; the examination of predictive value of small ncRNA level in newborns blood plasma for the development of neonatal complications based on the severity of COVID-19 in pregnant women and etc.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Due to its staff the Laboratory is distinguished by various achievements among which are 2 scientific patents and several government grants (1. Prediction of embryogenesis at morula stage depending on the profile of small non-coding RNA expression in culture media; 2. Epigenetic and biochemical aspects of pregnancy pathology in trophoblast deficiency).
The staff of the Laboratory also conducts a lot of research works that are published in various top-rated international journals and become nominated “Life 2022 Best Paper Awards”.
As part of Laboratory work process our specialists managed to create diagnostic test systems for identification of pathological placentation and conduct detailed examination of miRNA expression profile in placental tissue and peripheral blood of women in labor with early and late pre-eclampsia using deep-sequencing approach and Real-time PCR. With the use of these methods we also got signature of retrocervical endometriosis lesions. Finally, for the first time the Lab staff demonstrated increased expression of conjugated SUMO 1-4 in exosomes of pregnant women with severe pre-eclampsia and defined their connection with miR-27b-3p, miR-92b-3p, miR-181a-5p and miR-186-5p.
The Laboratory is equipped with all necessary modern machinery including various amplifiers (ABI StepOnePlus, CFX96), a freezer, an automated DNA-RNA purification system, Trans-Blot® SD semi-dry transfer cell, a new generation sequencing system (NextSeq 500/550), spectrophotometer (NanoDropOne) and etc.
