The laboratory of regenerative medicine was organized in 2012. The laboratory staff is studying a number of issues related to the main patterns of regeneration, the development of new approaches to stimulate reparative processes, determination of the role of the monocyte-macrophage system in the regulation of reparative processes, pathogenesis of preeclampsia, and cancer development.

FOCUS AREA

  • Study of molecular genetic and cellular mechanisms of reparative regeneration of tissues and organs using experimental models of various socially significant diseases
  • Development of new methods of cellular therapy in obstetrics, gynecology and perinatology
  • Collection, characterization, and banking of human and animal stem and progenitor cells isolated from different tissues
  • Genetic modification of stem and progenitor cells with growth factor genes that regulate angiogenesis and reparative regeneration to promote the therapeutic activity of cell products
  • Genetic modification of macrophages
  • Development of new and creation of existing experimental models of socially significant diseases in obstetrics, gynecology and perinatology – animal models of ovarian cancer, endometriosis, stress urinary incontinence, myocardial infarction
  • Organization and performance of clinical trials of new methods of cellular therapy

ACHIEVEMENTS

The laboratory specialists studied cellular and molecular mechanisms of the therapeutic activity of multipotent stromal cells (MSCs) using the developed experimental models.

Using on Kupffer cells and bone marrow-derived macrophage, a comparative analysis of embryonic macrophages was performed.

The laboratory is currently conducting research aimed at creating a cell therapy with macrophages for tumor diseases.

The laboratory staff have published more than 100 articles in leading Russian journals, and more than 30 articles in top foreign journals. Laboratory staff headed 2 grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, 1 grant of the Russian Science Foundation, and have 6 patents. Currently, the laboratory manages 1 grant of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, 1 grant of the President of the Russian Federation aimed at supporting young scientists and doctors of sciences, and 3 state grants.
