FOCUS AREA

The Laboratory is staffed with experienced and recognized healthcare providers among whom there are 8 PhDs. Their area of scientific interests encompasses such topics as analyses of fetal DNA and cytokines in blood plasma of pregnant women with pre-eclampsia, correlation of the level of cytokines with the degree of external genital endometriosis, cell-free fetal DNA as a useful marker for preeclampsia prediction and etc.

The Cytology Laboratory studies obstetrical, gynecological and oncological pathology mechanisms. Its major research lines in obstetrics are pre-eclampsia and fetal growth retardation. In gynecology it is endometriosis, whereas in oncology the Laboratory deals with breast cancer. Our specialists use cytology tests to study epigenetic, immune and hormonal aspects of the examined pathologies.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The Cytology Laboratory of the Centre is developing a diagnostic system for the early diagnosis of breast cancer based on the level of cell-free DNA methylation in the patients’ blood plasma.

Since the very first day when the Laboratory was established its specialists published more than 60 research works and received 3 scientific patents.

 The Laboratory is equipped with modern instruments including a pyrosequencing machine, a cell sorter, a fluorescent microscope and etc.
