DELEGATION FROM THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE"S REPUBLIC OF KOREA VISITS THE KULAKOV CENTRE
A North Korean delegation led by the Minister of Health JONG MU RIM visited the Kulakov National Medical Research Centre for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of the Ministry of Health of Russia. During the visit the issues of scientific and practical medicine were discussed.
The meeting focused on mutual cooperation in maternal and child health care, exchange of specialists and their training, including the possibility of organizing field trainings for obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians and oncogynecologists. Special attention was paid to the problems of maternal and child mortality, congenital malformations in children, medical care for women with cancer and diseases of the reproductive system and infertility. The Korean delegation also visited the Simulation and Training Centre, the Institute of Translational Medicine, the Laboratory of Reproductive Genetics and the Institute of Gynecological Oncology.
"It is a special honor and unique emotion for me to meet today," Gennady Sukhikh addressed the guests. - The fact is that in 1988, I spent four months in Pyongyang, working for the World Health Organization. I was fascinated by the endless hard-working nature of the Korean people, their devotion to ideas, and their desire to raise the country's power to even greater heights. We will be very happy to invite your specialists to our Center for training. They will be our guests. Last year, about a thousand people from other countries were trained in our center, so we have something to show and teach".
