FOCUS AREA
The patients of the Department are premature newborns, neonates with intrauterine growth retardation, extremely low birth weight babies.
The NICU team is kept well informed by the obstetricians on the expected births of babies with prenatal problems or premature births. They are ready to provide immediate and appropriate management including diagnostics, intensive care and surgical treatment.
SERVICES
- Full scope of multidisciplinary minimally invasive diagnostics and therapeutic care for the babies with congenital heart defects (CHD) and cardiovascular system; detection of comorbid conditions; diagnosis and treatment of arhythmias:
- standard ultrasound examination of the heart and internal organs
- electrocardiographic examination
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- cardiac multispiral computed tomography
- Adequate etiopathogenetic treatment
- Timely referral to a cardiac surgery hospital or to specialized cardiac department for dynamic follow-up and treatment simultaneously with the obstetricians and gynecologists of the Center, if prenatal diagnosis detects critical CHD
- Postoperative rehabilitation
- Further follow up babies in the Outpatient Department of the Center
